What is Psychosis?

Psychosis is a mental health condition characterized by a disconnection from reality. Individuals experiencing psychosis may have hallucinations, delusions, disorganized thinking, and impaired insight into their condition. It can be a symptom of various mental health disorders, including schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, and severe depressive disorders. It can also be caused by medical conditions, substance abuse, or extreme stress.


Treatment, at Dr. Kale’s psychiatry clinic, for psychosis typically involves a combination antipsychotic medicines, cognitive behavioural therapy, and family therapy ,social support interventions interventions. In severe cases of psychosis where the individual poses a risk to themselves or others, hospitalization may be necessary for stabilization and safety.
